And welcome! First of all, I'd like to thank you for your consideration. Finding the right artist when looking into commissioning a personal piece can be difficult. In efforts to make this a little easier for those who've never commissioned me before, I've provided an FAQ to be referenced bellow.
Don't have any questions? You can submit a request here!
What to expect?
If you've never commissioned a painting, or if this is your first time commissioning a painting from me, the process is not as daunting as it seems.
After submitting a request, I will contact you to discuss your idea. We will go over details and photographs and anything else that might pertain to the request, after which I will submit to you a price quote for approval. This is not a payment, but rather a promise to pay.
I'm not sure what I want!
No problem! Feel free to use the chat feature on the website to contact me directly, or email me at email@example.com to discuss your ideas before you have to commit to anything! I'm also available via Instagram and Facebook!
How long does it take?
Please keep in mind that I am working with traditional mediums, each of which requires radically different drying times. With watercolors, understandably the process is quicker. However, the more intricate the painting, or the more layering of colors required in the piece, the longer it needs to take. Occasionally, I work with a heat gun, but this can rob the luster of some pigments so I avoid using it on later layers.
Oil paintings are a different beast. These WILL take months. Additionally, even when an oil painting becomes touch-dry, it might still be wet in lower layers. This means that a painting can become easily damaged, so I will always require an additional couple of weeks for drying.
How much will it cost?
Prices are calculated by size, so the larger the piece, the higher the price tag. My base price for a watercolor piece is $65 at the standard 8x8" size. My oil paintings start at $130 for an 8"x8" canvas.
The pricing for all commissions is as follows:
75% (Progress Installment) is due when the painting is halfway complete
25% (Remaining Cost) + Shipping is due upon completion
I will issue a price quote for approval, so you will never be in doubt about the cost. Invoices for the artwork will be issued to the email provided. These must be paid by their due date or I will cease progress on the commission.
Shipping is calculated based on size and weight and will be paid along with the final payment.
